Expansion Approach

It is an approach used to develop the WordNet which takes advantage of WordNets already developed in some other language.  In this approach readily available Hindi WordNet synset developed by IIT Bombay, is referred to by the lexicographer. Each synset entry from the source WordNet is carefully studied by him to understand the underlying concept. He then gathers the corresponding words for that concept in the target language for which the WordNet is being developed. He then creates the corresponding synset in target language expressing the same sense. Thus the HWN and target language WN have identical glosses. Identical examples are given as far as possible.
